This 1911 photo looks east across 5th Avenue to the current site of the New School, with an additional glimpse down 13th St. You can clearly see the “press” building that is now the apartments across from our front door.
Cava Grill, which specializes in Mediterranean dips and spreads, will open on 4th Ave. near 13th St. soon. In the meantime, you can sample their recipes at Whole Foods.
This appears to be the north side of 14th St. east of Union Square in the ’40s. Note the cool “Turkish” subway entrance.
