The magazine shop and discount store on the north side of 14th west of 5th are both gone. What is next?
Next week (June 10 to June 14), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building. We will be working on the new sidewalks around the building on 13th st. Additionally we will be working on the roofs of the building.
The following week (June 17 to June 21), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors as well as sidewalk work.
This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, June 8st for interior, roof, and sidewalk activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City.

After serving 13th St. and the neighborhood for more than 30 years, BC Laundry has suddenly closed, so suddenly in fact that clothes are trapped inside. Good luck!
Reyna, the new restaurant that is taking over the Le Midi space in our building on the 13th St. side, is now about seven months late, but work is proceeding quickly. You may have noticed they have already installed not one, not two, but EIGHT AC units and fans on the roof of the courtyard, and we can only imagine what they will sound like when they all turn on. University Place will soon have not one but two taco spots within two blocks of each other. What was Tortaria at the corner of 12th St. will now become the second branch of Santo Taco. The update:
Since opening in the spring, Santo Taco’s Soho stall has gotten people to line up around the block for its steak trompos and rough-edged masa tortillas. Now it’s expanding: A new location will triple the number of seats while adding margaritas to the menu.
News from the University Place dining scene: Nino Selimaj has turned one of several Italian restaurants bearing his given name into a nuevo Latino bistro, with Ricardo Cardona as the consulting chef: Osso Buco in Greenwich Village will become Scarpina Bar & Grill (Nov. 4): 88 University Place (12th Street), (212) 645-4525.
