It looks like a crepe joint called Vive Le Crepe will open on University near 13th in a former day spa. It joins an upcoming falafel place and the glam Italian place to come on the corner. That’s three chains filling spaces formerly operated by three local businesses. Times change.
Here’s some interesting gossip: “A 50’s-era-themed supper club is slated to open mid-October on 9th Street between 5th and 6th. No live music, but all the Lobster Thermidor, Baked Alaska and old-school cocktails you and your hep date can handle.”
A 5th Ave. welcome to Merci Market, which is opening just around the corner at 5th and 13th in a space formerly occupied by a series of trendy restaurants that ended with Danal. The neighborhood has lost four corner delis in the past ten years, so while this one may be pricier than the ones that have departed, at least it will be convenient.
Carnival, the nightclub atop Bowlmor Lanes, will be transformed into a mini-golf nightclub called The Greenwich Village Country Club in October.
