Latest New School Construction Update
ByDonNext week (December 10 to December 14), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building.
The following week (December 17 to December 21), Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors.
This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, December 8th for interior superstructure related activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City.
TGI Fridays to Shutter
ByDonThe long-troubled TGI Fridays in Union Square is finally set to close, as the building goes on the market. “Union Square is so hot down there these days with real quality restaurants it just doesn’t compete well,” explains operator Dennis Riese.
Latest New School Construction Update
ByDonLooking ahead to the upcoming holiday, the New School construction site will be closed on Saturday, December 31st and also on Monday, January 2nd. Next week (January 2 to January 6), Superstructure and concrete work will continue at 2nd and 3rd floor levels. Sidewalk sheds will continue being erected around the perimeter of the site and we will be opening the one on 14th st. The following week (January 9 to January 13), we will continue superstructure concrete and slabs on 2nd and 3rd floor levels. In the upcoming weekend, January 14th, we plan on installing the new crane on Fifth Avenue.

ByDonShanghai Square, the new Chinese restaurant slated to replace Izu/Lemongrass Grill on our 13th St. side has released its menu. First reaction: it’s aggressively boring. There appears to be nothing on it that suggests this will be anything other than another run-of-the-mill Chinese.
