Warmer weather means ice cream in the park. Van Leeuwen returns to USQ as the seasonal vendor for another great summer near the subway entrance at the west side of the park near 16th St. With rotating ice cream (including vegan) flavors, expect sweet treats in the Square.
Japanese megastore UNIQLO has finally arrived at the northwest corner of Union Square in the former PETCO location. It was also the location of one of the final versions of Andy Warhol’s factory. Stop by to see some special Union Square themed T-shirts.
Note that September 24 is the date this year for the annual Harvest in the Square celebration. Tickets are $115. Go here for details.
Now in the neighborhood: City Space Suites, a loft on Broadway between 9th and 10th that offers fully tricked-out office space starting at $1,000 per month.
More branches of Barnes & Noble are closing. Most recently, the huge store at Lincoln Center was shuttered. However, the megastore on the northern edge of Union Square Park is safe.
