Latest New School Construction Update

Next week (January 21 to January 25), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building as well as roof work. Additionally we will begin work on the new sidewalks around the building. The site will be closed for the holiday on Monday, the 21st.

The following week (January 28 to February 1), Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors and roofs as well as sidewalk work.

This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, January 19th for interior and superstructure related activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City.

    Next week (May 20 to May 24), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building. We will be working on the new sidewalks around the building and installing new curbs and will be removing the sidewalk shed along 13th st. Additionally we will be working on the roofs of the building.

  • The Fourth Ave. Hotel

    You may have noticed construction work speeding along at the corner of 13th St. and 4th Ave. This is to be an 11-story, 162-room hotel in the medium price range. It’s being built by Sam Chang, the king of New York hotel development. He’s famous for finding ways to squeeze hotels onto tiny lots. In this case he’s keeping the facade of the former building as a kind of pedestal. Unusually sensitive forĀ a developer who is usually accused of having no architectural taste whatsoever.

  • Remembering Dan Gallagher

    We’re sad to note the very untimely passing of our neighbor Dan Gallagher (apt. 3D). The co-op will make a donation in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as his family requested. You can leave a personal message here. The following obituary was printed in his hometown New Jersey newspaper.

    Daniel J. Gallagher, on July 31, 2009, of Manhattan, NY, formerly of West Deptford, NJ. Age 42. Loving son of Francis and Lorraine (nee DiAmore) Gallagher. Devoted brother of Jack Gallagher (Melinda). Maternal grandson of Ida Cibinski. Beloved uncle of Bradley and Regan Gallagher. Dear nephew of William Gallagher, James Gallagher, Charles Gallagher, Michael Gallagher, Ann Marie Feeney, Greg Cibinski and the late Patrick Gallagher, Margaret Rankin and Kathleen Greene. Also survived by many cousins. Dan graduated from West Deptford High School, Class of 1985. He was a graduate of the Penn State University School of Engineering and received his MBA from Cornell University. Dan had a very successful career at Honeywell International where he held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Specialty Materials Division.
