Bring your electronic junk to the north end of Union Square on January 12 from 10-2. Here are the details:

• TVs, VCRs, DVRs, DVD & Blu-ray Players
• Digital Converter Boxes, Cable/Satellite Receivers

• Cell phones, pagers, PDAs
• Telecommunication (phones, answering machines, etc.)

We no longer accept:

Batteries (except lead-acid batteries from UPS (uninterrupted power supplies) systems, rechargeable batteries can be dropped off for recycling at any store that sells them, also check out IKEA and Staples stores for battery recycling.

Media, such as disks, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, etc.

After years of speculation, D’agostino on University Place has closed and will be replaced by some kind of higher-end gourmet market. It’s the way of the world…or at least the neighborhood.

What an interesting painting. The view is to the east across the southeastern corner of the park, back when the statue of George Washington was located in a traffic island at that corner.

Just what the neighborhood didn’t need: another place to spend $6 on coffee. Joe and the Juice will open a new location at the corner of University and 13th St., the site formerly occupied by the defunct Nutella Cafe.

Glaze Teriyaki Grill has opened up near Union Square. Their signature teriyaki entrees ($6.75 to $9.50) include chargrilled chicken thigh or breast, Japanese BBQ hanger steak, fresh-never-frozen organic salmon, boneless pork loin, wok vegetables or soy marinated tofu. It’s on 4th Ave. between 13th and 14th.

A sign of the times. The long abandoned Zen Palate restaurant on Union Square West has been stripped of its copper facade as high as human hands can reach. Copper scavengers on the prowl.
