First it was the mysterious India Pavillion, which survived for many years even though no one ever ate there. Then it was Mauricio for a couple of years. Now Da Andrea is thriving in the spot on West 13th formerly occupied by those two long gone establishments. People sure seem to like it.
Next week (July 9 to July 13), Mechanical equipment and work will continue at the 17th and 18th floor levels. Curtain wall will continue to be installed on the building. This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, July 7th for superstructure activities as well as the demobilization of the crane from the site. In order to facilitate this effort we will be closing 13th street for the day to pedestrian and automotive traffic. Site work will begin at 6AM as permitted by the City. To control noise levels within the site, work activities will be limited to working on the mechanical systems of the building and using the crane and equipment to support activities. Safety horns are used, and required by law, to coordinate lifting with the crane and to alert the workers of the danger overhead. We have directed the operators to limit the use of horns to one short sounding and to use the crane later in the day so as to avoid any excess noise.

To mark National HIV Testing Day, the Community Healthcare Network (CHN) will provide all-day free HIV tests and Hepatitis C screenings, as well as meningitis vaccines.
The HIV tests take 20 minutes for the results, so to make the wait more bearable there will be free massages, snacks, life-coaching, and stretching workshops while you wait. The CHN’s mobile van will be in the park from 9am-5pm, so stop by to find out your status, and get your meningitis vaccine before the weekend’s Pride festivities!

Sad to see that Patisserie Fouet on 13th St. is no more. It closed suddenly and without much explanation. Perhaps an end-of-year lease situation. They do have another location at 776 9th Ave at 52nd St.
Bak Korean Kitchen, which shared our building on 13th St., i\s no more. It was the fifth restaurant in that location in eight years. However, the Karaoke Cave downstairs is undergoing renovation and will reopen.
