ByDonShoo Loong Kan, a Chinese hot pot restaurant will soon arrive on 13th St. in the space that old timers will fondly remember as Borgo Antico. (The name means little dragon ridge.) The chain already has locations in Chicago, Houston, and Flushing.
New School Construction: More of the Same
ByDonThis week (June 6-10), contractors will continue to excavate earth and rock, and load out material. We will complete the underpinning of the adjacent buildings. Installation of rakers, line drilling, lagging and sheeting around the perimeter will progress as well. Concrete foundation walls are scheduled to begin.

ByDonLong-timers will remember the 40-foot lizard that one sat atop the now demolished deli on the corner of 13th and 5th when it was the famed Lone Star Cafe. The bar closed in 1989, and the iguana disappeared, but as this article says, it has now been found.
