The Trials and Tribulations of 61 5th Avenue

Now taking reservations, the latest location of Serafina, at University and 12th.

It doesn’t look like much now, but a new bar, Everything’s Jake, is coming to 13th St. between University and Broadway. It’ll be your place to go for a nightcap after dinner at PF Chang’s.

Your reporter visited an open house at 15 Union Square West. The verdict: the ceilings are incredibly high and the windows are huge. Fixtures are fantastic although overdesigned for someone with more sedate tastes. The most interesting feature: an interior atrium complete with 19th century ironwork and a skylight that will be restored. Incredible to see it. The big problem: these apartments are insanely expensive.

Another pandemic victim: Babu Ji on 13th St. It was the sixth restaurant to have a go of it in the space in the past 25 years.

Please note that the 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders for 7-11 East 13^th Street Tenants Corp. will be held on Tuesday, December 3^rd at 6:00PM. The meeting will be held at Conservative Synagogue of Fifth Avenue located at 11 East 11^th Street, New York, NY 10003.  A formal notice of the meeting will follow.

The primary purpose of the meeting is to elect the Board of Directors for the upcoming year. If you are interested in running for a seat on the Board, please submit a short synopsis or bio outlining your qualifications and desire to run for the Board of Directors. You may send this information to Mecca White at Mwhite@akam.com no later than Friday, November 1, 2024, so that your name may appear on the ballot.
