Forever 21, on the corner of University and 14th St., has shuttered. It’s a prime location, and it will be interesting to see what shows up next.
Amazingly enough in these tough times, work is going ahead on the construction of ten floors of luxury duplex condos on the corner of 5th Ave. and 13th St, where the burned out deli once stood. To read more about the history of this spot, click here.
Next week (April 22 to April 26), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building. We will be work on the new sidewalks around the building as well.
The following week (April 29 to May 3), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors.
This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, April 20th for interior and sidewalk activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City.

Next week (July 30 to August 3), Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors. Curtain wall installation on upper floors will continue and lower levels will continue on 13th st. with the aid of a small crane. The crane will remain on 13th st. for the purpose of curtain wall installation.
The following week (August 6 to August 10) Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors. Curtain wall installation will continue on all floors.
There will be another messy and smelly street fair on University Place on August 8.
For the next two weeks, through May 6, the New School reports that construction will be basically “more of the same.” In other words, they’re still digging the hole.
