The long-troubled TGI Fridays in Union Square is finally set to close, as the building goes on the market. “Union Square is so hot down there these days with real quality restaurants it just doesn’t compete well,” explains operator Dennis Riese.
Soon to occupy the former Forbidden Planet space is Zumiez, a store with all the latest skateboard fashions.
Warmer weather means ice cream in the park. Van Leeuwen returns to USQ as the seasonal vendor for another great summer near the subway entrance at the west side of the park near 16th St. With rotating ice cream (including vegan) flavors, expect sweet treats in the Square.

You’ll find it on 12th St. just west of University. Early reviews are great (although likely phony).
