Japanese megastore UNIQLO has finally arrived at the northwest corner of Union Square in the former PETCO location. It was also the location of one of the final versions of Andy Warhol’s factory. Stop by to see some special Union Square themed T-shirts.

Even if NYU adds space by building at the World Trade Center as was recently reported, it still wants to build big in the Village. How big is big? The Greeenwich Village Society For Historical Preservation has brought the plans to animated life so we can all see.

It’s a bit of a hike, but the new Wegman’s supermarket at Astor Place is worth a visit because it is so huge and so suburban. Prices are competitive across the board, and the variety of items beats any other store in the area. The sad and tired Gristedes on University Place should be worried.
