French Cafe to Replace French Cafe?

Did you know that 5.7% of NYC’s residential waste is textiles, yet they are 100% recyclable? Recycle your unwanted textile materials at the Union Square Greenmarket every Monday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Acceptable donations include used clothing, shoes, boots, hats, jackets, towels, bedding, and linens. Council on the Environment of New York City will provide receipts upon request for those who may want to use their donation as a charitable contribution. You may remember The Adore on the 13th St. block. Now, a couple of doors down at the former site of the copy shop and, briefly, Blossom de Jour, will be a new French/Japanese bakery called Patisserie Fouet.

Next week (February 18 to February 22), material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors inside the building as well as roof work. Additionally we will begin work on the new sidewalks around the building. The sidewalk shed on 14th st. is scheduled to begin dismantling, pending construction progress. The site will be closed on Monday, February 18th, for the holiday.

The following week (February 25 to March 1), Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors and roofs as well as sidewalk work.

Next week (February 6 to February 10), Superstructure work will continue at and 4th and 5th floor levels. The following week (February 13 to February 17), we will continue superstructure concrete and slabs on 4th, 5th and 6th floor levels.

This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, February 4th for superstructure related activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City. To control noise levels within the site, work activities will be limited to the placement of formwork and concrete, plumbing and electrical work, rebar for concrete placement, using the crane and equipment to support all activities. Safety horns are used, and required by law, to coordinate lifting with the crane and to alert the workers of the danger overhead. We have directed the operators to limit the use of horns to one short sounding and to use the crane later in the day so as to avoid any excess noise.

14th Street Con ED vault utility connection street work will continue per DOT Permit granted for weekends only.

The renaissance of the Jefferson Market on 6th near 11th is a letdown. While the prepared foods section is still OK, the rest of the store has been transformed into a humdrum Gristedes. All the local flavor is pretty much obliterated.
