BC Organic Laundry: Done
After serving 13th St. and the neighborhood for more than 30 years, BC Laundry has suddenly closed, so suddenly in fact that clothes are trapped inside. Good luck!
You will soon, with the impending arrival of Baked by Melissa, the second branch of a Soho cupcake favorite. It will be opening directly across 14th St. soon. Enjoy.
Stop by apartment 5E (Peter and Ellis) this coming Thursday at 6-7 PM to see their renovation underway and get a unique chance to see the guts of the building exposed.
Wow. NYU has some very big plans for its expansion.
After over six years of delays, Union Square Pavilion is finally open to the public. The main draw of Simon Oren’s sprawling restaurant is the outdoor patio, which overlooks the park (and, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the beautiful Greenmarket). Chef Mario Urgiles, formerly of Maison, will cook simple dishes like pappardelle al pesto, wild-mushroom bruschetta, and branzino with vegetable ratatouille. Think of this as Tavern on the Green for the downtown set.
Double mask up + grab your popcorn: movie theaters can reopen as soon as Friday, March 5th. Officials announced that theaters are permitted to reopen at 25% capacity, with added safety measures including mask mandates and assigned seating.
The Union Square area is home to six movie theaters, three of which will be open on Friday, March 5th, including the two AMC Theaters at 19th and 11th Streets, and the Village East Quad. We will update this story as soon as we have reopening dates for the Regal Union Square on 13th, Cinema Village, and Quad Cinema so check back often!
