When the New School builds its new building on the corner, one of its major uses will be to house a consolidated Parsons School of Fashion Design, which is currently scattered among many midtown buildings. That’s according to the New School student newspaper. So expect even more groovily dressed teens outside our front doors.
The team behind the world-famous Union Square Greenmarket, GrowNYC, just launched Project Farmhouse, an event space and sustainability center that hosts workshops, galas, speakers, community meetings and interactive exhibits. The new space is located on 13th Street, on the ground floor of the Hyatt Union Square.
This very interesting article from the New York Press describes the battle between a noted urban planner and his son, who happens to be the Parks Commissoner. They disagree about the future design of Union Square and they’ve been battling publicly. Ouch.

Beginning mid-month, Uniqlo will open a pop-up store within the Union Square subway station. Located at the east end of the station, the temporary store will sell winter gear including the brand’s $50 puffer jackets and HeatTech layers. Huge perk: every purchase earns a free $5 MetroCard. The pop up is open through Christmas.
