After years of speculation, D’agostino on University Place has closed and will be replaced by some kind of higher-end gourmet market. It’s the way of the world…or at least the neighborhood.

Looks like University Place will soon get a branch of the popular Pop Burger near 10th St. Also at that location, a coffee spot called Pop Roast. Expected opening: early 2011

Finally, the new Union Square playground, three times its former size, is open.

Dominique Ansel is opening a third bakery in Manhattan. The French pastry chef, famous for inventing the cronut in 2013, has signed a 15-year lease n at 64 University Place, between East 10th and 11th streets. The new bakery is located on the ground level of that yet-to-be-completed 11-floor luxury apartment complex.
