Latest New School Construction Update

DOB has granted our request to start placing our concrete at 6am, which will allow us to finish this work earlier in the evening. We have 5 more instances like this until we finish our superstructure in early June.

Therefore next week (April 23 to April 27), Superstructure work will continue at the 14th and 15th floor levels. Monday, April 23rd, and Thursday, April 26th, we will have a pour with a 6 am start time and similar end time, weather permitting. Deliveries for the internal systems of the building have been ongoing and will continue, although they should not greatly affect the flow of pedestrian and road traffic.

The following week (April 30 to May 4), we will continue superstructure concrete and slabs on the 15th and 16th floor levels. Deliveries for the internal systems of the building have been ongoing and will continue, although they should not greatly affect the flow of pedestrian and road traffic.

This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, April 21st for superstructure related activities between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City. To control noise levels within the site, work activities will be limited to the placement of formwork and concrete, plumbing and electrical work, rebar for concrete placement, using the crane and equipment to support all activities. Safety horns are used, and required by law, to coordinate lifting with the crane and to alert the workers of the danger overhead. We have directed the operators to limit the use of horns to one short sounding and to use the crane later in the day so as to avoid any excess noise.

In addition to the normal work on the job site, we will have an additional crane on site at 13th st. and 5th ave. to install the stair trusses on the west side of the building. The crane will be completely on site and should not interfere with pedestrian or automotive traffic in the area.

    At Bowery Road, a neighborhood American restaurant, Chef Ron Rosselli’s flavorful and thoughtfully prepared dishes are inspired by long relationships with local farmers and purveyors and loaded with seasonal produce from the Union Square Greenmarket. The restaurant takes its name from its location on 4th Avenue, which was formerly called Bowery Road when it served as the pathway to Peter Stuyvesant’s farm.

    Located directly off the lobby, Bowery Road is open from 7am-11pm for breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
    Rosselli has also worked at Locanda Verde and The Standard Grill.

    The hotel now also sports The Library of Distilled Spirits, which: “pays tribute to liquor makers and their craft with over 700 bottles made around the world. Explore the collection neat, or shaken and stirred into more than 150 classic cocktails. Barkeepers and encyclopedic volumes of single spirits will help you choose.”

    The Fourth and Singl, the hotel’s two dining-drinking options, have closed. The two new establishments are operated by APICII, “a multi-concept restaurant company.”

  • Oh, Rats (hopefully not)…Composting Has Arrived

    Please be advised that curbside composting began on October 6, 2024. The program is mandatory and requires buildings to separate food and yard waste from other trash and recycling items. However, there is a grace period until April 2025 to allow buildings to implement the proper procedures and get everything in order.

    • We have ordered one bin for each building and have ordered a second for each building in anticipation of participation.
    • Residents are required to bring their food waste materials down and place them in the composting bin. The bins are on the second floor of 14th Street and in the garbage area in the back of the lobby on 13th Street. They are in place and ready for use.
    • Acceptable materials for the composting bin include all food scraps, bones, dairy, prepared/cooked foods, and food-soiled paper (napkins, paper plates, coffee filters).
    • Recycling and trash procedures remain unchanged.

    Please see the attached DSNY flyer detailing acceptable materials for the composting bin. Additional guidance and recommendations include:

    • Drain liquids before placing food scraps in the composting bin.
    • Store composting materials in a plastic bag, brown paper bag, yogurt tub, or a designated organics container. Empty the scraps into the composting bin in the basement.
    • To prevent odors, store scraps in the freezer if you cannot bring them down immediately.
    • Newspapers, paper bags and certified compostable bags are acceptable in the composting bin. Plastic bags may be thrown in the bin as the DSNY has a method for removing them. Hard plastic, metal, and glass are not permitted.

    As a reminder, plastic, cardboard, metal, and glass should be recycled separately and not placed in the composting bin. Regular trash items including Styrofoam, pet waste, or diapers must not be thrown into the composting bin.
