At long last, L.A. Burdick Chocolate is returning to the City they love! In late October, L.A. Burdick Café (5 East 20th Street, 212 796-0143) opened featuring their award winning hot chocolate and renowned chocolate mice and bonbons. The café is open seven days a week serving hot and cold drinks, homemade pastries and a full selection of chocolates.
University Place will soon have not one but two taco spots within two blocks of each other. What was Tortaria at the corner of 12th St. will now become the second branch of Santo Taco. The update:
Since opening in the spring, Santo Taco’s Soho stall has gotten people to line up around the block for its steak trompos and rough-edged masa tortillas. Now it’s expanding: A new location will triple the number of seats while adding margaritas to the menu.

To take part, you must register in advance for an appointment on Tuesday, November 1st. No insurance is required. If you cannot attend the clinic, please visit the bottom of our webpage for information about how to get your flu shot at several Union Square-14th Street pharmacies. There should be no cost to you with most insurance. Please note: the clinic is not happening at a Mount Sinai location, but instead at Paragon Sports at the corner of 18th Street + Broadway.
An unusual crime at Giant Bagel, on the corner of Universty and 13th, last Friday night:
Three peed-off perps brutally beat a man for taking too long in the bathroom at a Greenwich Village bagel shop, police said yesterday. The thugs — identified as Osman Jalloh, 19, Amadou Diallo, 21, and Mohamed Sow, 21 — became enraged waiting for Zaaven Castelan, 23, to finish his business in a restroom at Giant Bagels on University Place at 10 p.m. Friday, sources said. When Castelan emerged from the bathroom, the trio started pummeling him, the sources said.Police quickly rounded up the men.
Replacing City Tavern at 22 East 13th St. will be All’Onda, which appears to be a high-end Italian spot focusing on seafood. The Chef is a veteran of both Morimoto and Ai Fiori.

After more than a decade serving noodles at Smorgasburg and two years running Noodle Lane in Park Slope, Lane Li and Chris Wang are opening the 40-seat bistro Rulin. The specialty will be Chinese knife-shaved and hand-pulled noodles — like dan dan mian with pork, Sichuan vegetables, and scallions — and a signature “Rulin” noodle served with mustard greens and chicken broth.
