If there was any doubt about the national momentum on legalized marijuana use in America, consider this. There will be a medicinal marijuana dispensary off Union Square come January 2016. The dispensary on 14th Street between Second and Third Avenues will be run by Columbia Care, a New York City-based company that was awarded one of the state’s five licenses to open a medicinal marijuana shop. The selections were made in July, and companies are moving forward on grand openings.
Serafina at University and 12th has closed after less than one year. It will soon be replaced by the eighth location of Bagel Pub. The nearest other location is at 6th Ave. and 9th St.
Next week (November 12 to November 16), Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors. Curtain wall installation on the lower floors will proceed along 14th st. inside the construction site. The crane that is on site will remain for the duration of curtain wall installation and will not affect pedestrian or automotive traffic.
The following week (November 19 to November 23) Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors. Curtain wall installation on the lower floors will proceed along 14th st. inside the construction site. The site will be closed on November 22 for the holiday.
This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, November 17th for superstructure related activities and curtain wall installation between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City. Con Ed will be working in the street.
By now we all know that the Bowlmor Lanes building on University Place is scheduled for demolition and will be replaced by condos. Goodbye, Stromboli Pizza, Japonica, and Vive La Crepe. Luckily, the newsstand is relocating across the street. Changes….
