Glaze Opens

Glaze Teriyaki Grill has opened up near Union Square. Their signature teriyaki entrees ($6.75 to $9.50) include chargrilled chicken thigh or breast, Japanese BBQ hanger steak, fresh-never-frozen organic salmon, boneless pork loin, wok vegetables or soy marinated tofu. It’s on 4th Ave. between 13th and 14th.

Soon to occupy the former Forbidden Planet space is Zumiez, a store with all the latest skateboard fashions.

Bye Bye Bak

Bak Korean Kitchen, which shared our building on 13th St., i\s no more. It was the fifth restaurant in that location in eight years. However, the Karaoke Cave downstairs is undergoing renovation and will reopen.

The No Difference shoe store on the corner of Broadway and 12th has been transformed into the neighborhood’s second Pret a Manger. Hungry?

The crane will remain on 13th st. for the purpose of curtain wall installation.

The following week (August 27 to August 31) Material and equipment deliveries and installation work will continue on all floors. Curtain wall installation will continue on all floors. Work on 13th st should be complete by the end of this week and will be moved to 5th ave. to continue wrapping the building.

This weekend the site will be open on Saturday, August 25th for superstructure related activities and curtain wall installation between the work hours of 7AM and 5PM as permitted by the City. The crane on 13th st. will not be used during the weekend. Con Ed is on site working on the building but is not in any of the streets.

Additionally over the holiday weekend the site will be open on Saturday, September 1st but will be closed on Monday, the 3rd.

Neighbor James Morgan has done additional investigative work to find out the following:
–The name of the cafe may be Maison de Croque Monsieur.
–The owners are from the Petite Abielle group.
–They intend to keep the antique signage on the building, which is great.

Rumor has it that the recently departed The Adore on 13th St. will be replaced by another French cafe. More rumors soon.
